Legal Vocation Fellowship Field Notes: Summer 2024 Update
Opening applications and introducing new additions
The Legal Vocation Fellowship is centered on relationships. Our fellows benefit from exceptional mentors, dedicated faculty, and thought-provoking speakers. We are grateful for the many people who make up this LVF community.
Today’s field note highlights an opportunity for early career attorneys to join this community by applying to be a fellow in our second cohort. It also highlights some of our newest LVF additions, including incoming faculty member Jennifer Koh.
Cohort 2 Applications Are Now Open
This spring, the Legal Vocation Fellowship wrapped up its inaugural cohort filled with discipleship, discussion, learning, and growth. We are now excited to shift our focus toward recruiting and launching our second cohort. Cohort 2 of the Legal Vocation Fellowship will commence in January 2025 and will include three additional regions: Atlanta, Minneapolis, and New York City. Applications for Cohort 2 Fellows are now open and will close on September 30. We can’t wait to welcome the next class of LVF fellows!
As a reminder, fellows should be:
Attorneys with 2-5 years of practice experience;
Living in one of our eight regions: Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Minneapolis, New York City, San Francisco, St. Louis or Washington D.C.;
Committed to LVF’s core values; and
Believers of a mature Christian faith that affirms the Apostles’ Creed, and
active participants in a local faith community.
If you or someone you know would be a good fit, we encourage you to visit our website where you can learn more about the Legal Vocation Fellowship and apply to join us as a Cohort 2 fellow. We also invite you to share the application with your network!
Here is an overview of what our faculty and fellows took away from our last cohort:
LVF Welcomes New Additions
As we continue looking ahead, we are grateful for the faculty and mentors who have recommitted to their roles for the upcoming cycle. LVF is built on a foundation of strong community involvement, and we are fortunate to be working with such a committed network of people!
We are also excited to welcome new members into our LVF community. In addition to the new class of fellows, Cohort 2 will include some new mentors, especially from our newly added Atlanta, Minneapolis, and New York City regions. We are also thrilled to announce that Cohort 2 will feature an additional faculty member: Jennifer Koh.
Jennifer is an associate professor of law at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, where she co-directs the Nootbaar Institute for Law Religion and Ethics. Her academic expertise is on the convergence of the immigration enforcement and the criminal legal system. Previously, Jennifer joined our first cohort as a speaker, presenting on the topic “Lawyer as Justice Bearer.” We are thrilled that Jennifer accepted our invitation to become even more deeply involved with LVF and look forward to the wisdom she will bring moving forward.
Finally, LVF happily welcomes Eden Sung as our newest Chief Operating Officer. Eden is a LVF Cohort 1 alumna who understands firsthand the program’s strengths and can provide valuable feedback as we continue to grow and improve. She received her J.D. from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and Honors B.A. from the University of Delaware. She has split her years in legal practice at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft and at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in antitrust law representing companies before competition authorities. If you find yourself in the D.C. area, be sure to reach out and connect with Eden!
